 Dr. Elizabeth Mackey

Originally from Walterboro, SC, Dr. Mackey graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1986 and taught biology and physical sciences. She became actively involved in wildlife rehabilitation, and ultimately became a full-time rehabilitator until moving to GA in 1999. She graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 2006, and completed a one year internship at UGA in Exotic, Wildlife and Zoological Medicine. Dr. Mackey resides with her husband, Kelly, at their farm in Watkinsville, which is home to their numerous pets: horses, goats, dogs, cats, parrots, reptiles….let’s just say she doesn’t own a cow!

 Dr. Heather Fields

Dr. Fields is also from South Carolina, growing up in Spartanburg.  She earned a BS in Biology from the University of South Carolina in 1992.  She pursued her dream of being a veterinarian by graduating from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  Dr. Fields married shortly after graduation, then she and her husband, David, moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he was stationed with the Air Force.  After practicing in Nebraska until 2000, Dr. Fields and her husband moved back to Georgia to reside in Danielsville, where they built a house and started a family.  Dr. Fields' children, Daniel and Rachel, are her pride and joy.  She also enjoys her dog, Buddy, as well as her 3 cats, Robin Hood, a 20 year old, Oscar, and her newest addition, a kitten named Sam. Dr. Fields has a passion for preventative medicine, nutrition, acupuncture, and exotics.  In addition to her family and her vet practice, she also enjoys church fellowship and antiquing.

Margaret Owensby

Margaret first started working in the veterinary field in 2009, after working in the medical field for 5 years.  She is currently working towards a degree in Veterinary Technology at Athens Tech, working towards becoming a registered veterinary technician.  She has nine animals in her life (if you include her husband), three of which are medium to large rescue dogs and five of which are various rescue cats.  She is also very excited to be working with exotics, especially after her life-long long-distance love of all things reptile.  Margaret also finds it exciting to work with bunnies, chinchillas, birds, ferrets...well, you get the idea!
